Creed, Greed, Depression, and Repitition
by Ray Olson
Everything starts back with Pearl Jam. The mellow-dramatic guitar riffs and full vibrato voice made a lasting impression on today's music world. It seems nowadays every pop-rock shit band sounds exactly the same. The only way to tell them apart is to memorize the song and its band's name. Bands such as Staind, Puddle of Mudd, Lifehouse, Creed, and Nickelback all fit inks with this category. They feed off of one another for popularity and the listener's threshold for depression. Everybody likes to hear that other people have problems... and these bands know it. It's when they all sing about the same problems and sound the same everytime that it starts to get a little rediculous. Music is supposed to be an art where one expresses creativity and originality. Not playing until your audience gets bored and mores on to another shitty band. Bands like these have driven me to hate little girls and the radio. I prefer to call these bands maybe Mother of Pearl Jam, or Off White Jam, maybe even Stucco Jam. These names are much more fitting if you consider the band they are all fashioned after but just can't quite fit the mold.
